Wye Oak - Civilian
You might say, “What a dreadful day,” without realizing that the cold, the wind, and the rain or whatever condition you react to are not dreadful. They are as they are. What is dreadful is your reaction, your inner resistance to it, and the emotion that is created by that resistance.
You can’t go on like you’re going to start really living one day, like all this is some preamble to some great life that’s going to magically appear. I’m a firm believer that you have to create your own miracles. Don’t hold out that there’s something better waiting on the other side. It doesn’t work that way.
Every time I hear people say “but I think Indians aren’t Asian I think they’re middle eastern” what I hear is “they don’t fit into the stereotype of Asian I have created in my mind about what Asians are so I am going to ignore geography also I have no idea what continent the middle east falls into”
The first step - especially for young people with energy and drive and talent, but not money - the first step to controlling your world is to control your culture. To model and demonstrate the kind of world you demand to live in. To write the books. Make the music. Shoot the films. Paint the art
things! not! to! say! to! asexuals!:
- ‘aren’t you just asexual becuase no one likes you?’
- ‘asexuality isn’t even real’
- ‘you’ll grow out of it’
- ‘well do you masturbate?’
- anything of or pertaining to amoebas
- ‘so does that mean you’re gonna die alone then?’
- ‘you don’t dress like an asexual’
